Thanks to the Participants at Our Conference

Many thanks to the creative participants in our small working conference, “Making Games That Help Teach Difficult Concepts,” held last Thursday and Friday, Oct. 27-28, on Bainbridge Island, WA.

As part of CCT’s IES-funded Possible Worlds project, the meeting brought together educators and game developers in three subject areas—middle-school science, history, and early childhood. Over the course of the conference, small groups worked together to clarify design guidelines that would align core mechanics of digital games with key learning and teaching challenges in the three disciplines. The conversations were rich and generative, and we are sifting them for guidelines that can help advance the making of worthwhile educational games; we will post more about the specifics soon. In the meantime, thanks to all our colleagues for so generously giving their time and ideas to this work:
